The National Strength and Conditioning
Association is dedicated to providing fitness coaches and personal trainers
with the the resources and services to be successful. The Personal Trainer Program is intended to educate and train professionals working with a
wide range of clients to improve their fitness levels.
A coaching path
has been created that leads to becoming a Certified Special Population
Specialist (CSPS), intended for a personal trainer that is interested in improving
the health and fitness needs of clients afflicted by health conditions.
The NSCA prioritizes fitness initiatives by serving as a partner in the
National Activity Plan and holding the annual Personal Trainer Conference and
Youth Training Symposium. NSCA-Certified Personal Trainers, Certified
Strength and Conditioning Specialists, and other health and fitness
practitioners will be empowered by the Personal Training Program.

The NSCA's annual Personal Trainers Conference allows attendees to engage in hands-on sessions that take you from the lecture hall to your clients’ workout. NSCA-Certified Personal Trainers (NSCA-CPT) are health/fitness professionals who, using an individualized approach, assess, motivate, educate and train clients regarding their health and fitness needs. Certified personal trainers design safe and effective exercise programs, provide the guidance to help clients achieve their personal health/fitness goals and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
Recognizing their own area of expertise, personal trainers refer clients to other health care professionals when appropriate.

The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Strength & Conditioning Course
The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), in partnership with the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) developed Strength & Conditioning. It is designed for any individual who has responsibility for weight room supervision. The course presents the principles of conditioning and Includes in-depth explanations of best practices and over 80 videos demonstrating proper techniques. Coaches can complete a course immediately and will have up to one year to review and access all printable resources.
