Law enforcement personnel need a blend of both strength training and conditioning to keep themselves in top physical condition. Interval training is an excellent way to integrate both of these needs. Interval training involves work from both the anaerobic and aerobic energy systems. The high intensity bouts of work involve the anaerobic energy system which utilizes glycogen stored in the muscles.
This article is recommended because it provides an explanation not only of the importance of interval training, but of the physiological responses that occur in the body during this form of training. This article also provides a sample drill that you can provide to your law enforcement clients.
