RSCC Renewal Course

In addition to maintaining your CSCS, completion of a $25 RSCC Renewal Course is required by December 1st of each year, beginning in 2012, for RSCC and RSCC*D to maintain status within the RSCC Registry.

Maintaining the CSCS®

Maintaining your Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist® certification requires earning 2.0 CEUs per year. This can be attained by:

• Attending the NSCA conference (or other Strength and Conditioning conferences or workshops)
  • Sessions must be relevant to Strength and Conditioning issues and are consistent with the NSCA educational standards; e.g., Anatomy/Physiology, Nutrition, Biomechanics, Kinesiology, Health/Wellness, Sport Psychology, and Rehab/Orthopedics are acceptable.
  • Calculate attendance at the conference as 0.1 CEUs per contact hour (maximum of 2.0 CEUs per event) and record them in Category A.
• Report a presentation.
  • The presentation CANNOT be a part of normal job duties; teaching a typical college/university class load in A/P, Nutrition, Biomechanics, Exercise Science, etc. are not applicable, however presentations at conferences, clinics, and workshops are applicable. Calculate your presentation as 1.0 CEUs per hour (maximum of 2.0 CEUs per event) and record them in Category B.

    • 1.5 CEUs for NSCA publications
    • 1.0 CEUs for peer review journals
    • 0.5 CEUs for others
  • Books
    • 1.5 CEUs per published chapter
    • 3.0 per published book
• First-Aid
  • 0.5 CEUs per cycle (every 2 years typically)
• AED recertification
  • 0.5 per year
  • up to 1.5 CEUs
• Personal Development
  • Examples of activities include reading journals, magazines and books related to strength and conditioning and personal training; participating in self-improvement seminars; viewing strength and conditioning Web sites or completing an internship that does not count for post-certification college credit
• NCCA Certification or licensing exam
  • 2.0 CEUs
  • Recertification does NOT count
