In light of the extreme heat covering most of the country in the past few months, how could someone train to hydrate prior to and during a long outdoor event (triathlon, marathon, adventure race, etc.) when it is not always practical to do to all exercise indoors? I have heard of glycerol being used. Is this a safe alternative to water and electrolytes, mainly sodium)?
