Certified Professional With Insurance (CPI) Membership

What is included?

The CPI membership includes all of the great benefits and services of a regular membership, plus professional liability insurance. The CPI membership cycle runs from February 1 through January 31 each year with an annual cost of $355 (+ $15 postage for Canadian residents). Quotes are pro-rated throughout the cycle and current members receive a credit for any remaining membership.

Coverage is limited to members acting in the capacity of a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist® (CSCS®) or NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer® (NSCA-CPT®). If at any time NSCA certification lapses, liability coverage will cease. Only US, US Territories (Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands,) and Canadian residents may purchase insurance. International members may not purchase insurance. Institutions may not purchase insurance. There is no group liability insurance available. This policy will not cover a place of business, employee, or co-worker. It protects against suits for activities anywhere in the world, provided the original suit is brought within the US, Canada, or its territories or possessions.

When does coverage start?

Individuals are covered once payment is processed, but will not receive the paperwork (a membership card, a brochure, and a Certificate of Insurance) for up to three weeks following. Credit card payments are usually processed within five business days while checks will take longer. The NSCA Headquarters processes payment and issues Certificates.

How to Renew or Join as a CPI Member

Qualified individuals may upgrade or renew online, by calling the NSCA Headquarters or by completing the renewal notice they receive in the mail.

Waiver and Release of Liability Forms

Sample waivers and release of liability forms are available from the NSCA Headquarters, or ESIX insurance company at 800-342-4371 upon request.

Additional Insured

An Additional Insured, such as a gym, school or other facility provides insurance coverage for that gym, school or other facility for your activities. If the gym, school or other facility is named as a defendant in an action involving your training activities, the insurance will provide defense and/or indemnification. The Additional Insured program is not for a personal business premises. Only current CPI members who are US, US Territories, and Canadian residents may purchase this insurance.

An Additional Insured can be added to your policy at anytime during the insurance period for a cost of $50 per facility. Each individual facility must be named as an Additional Insured as one insured will not cover other facilities. Additional Insured costs are not prorated and the dates run from February 1 – January 31 each year in conjunction with the CPI membership.

Health Insurance

The NSCA, along with Health Choice One, is now offering members health insurance benefits. The goal is to provide customized health insurance solutions for individuals, families, and the self-employed. NSCA members receive priority treatment, and where allowed by law members-only price discounts.

NSCA members can receive an exclusive discount on the Med Choice One Accident and Supplemental Health Care Plan through Health Choice One.
