Details of Fly Solo Program
To become a pilot, you first study the rules and regulations in the official flight manual before ever getting in the cockpit of an airplane. New pilots learn procedures to fly along side a certified pilot. New pilots only fly solo after their instructor believes they are ready to fly solo. This model also applies for the NSCA Fly Solo Program for strength coaches.
NSCA Fly Solo Program is designed to help high school and college sport coaches gain a better understanding of strength and conditioning principles that need to be included in their programs. The program relies on the strength and conditioning CSCS practitioners and NSCA-CPT professionals to share their knowledge and experience so coaches attending the Fly Solo Camps can help athletes improve performance.
Coaches are required to study the Flight Manual material thoroughly before they are allowed to attend the Fly Solo Camp. They need to be prepared to answer questions and demonstrate their experience level in the hands on Fly Solo Camp.
After successful completion of the Fly Solo Camp, coaches will have earned a three year Certificate of Completion with their “WINGS” and the right to purchase an Index Test License from the NSCA. Within the last year of their certificate, coaches must attend a four-hour Fly Solo Advanced Camp to renew their certificate for another three years and get up-to-date on the latest research and advancements in the field.
All coaches are encouraged to take the next step in their professional career and become a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
