NSCA Personal Trainer – Advanced Recognition
Purpose
The NSCA Personal Trainer – Advanced Recognition (PT-AR) is designed to acknowledge currently certified NSCA-CPT individuals that go above and beyond the call of duty as a fitness professional representing and serving the National Strength and Conditioning Association. This advanced recognition will be awarded to those individuals who uphold a higher standard for the personal training profession and devote extra time and effort to exemplify leadership in the strength, conditioning, wellness, and fitness industry.

Qualifications
In order to qualify for this special recognition the personal trainer must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a current CPR/AED Certification (photocopy of current certification required).
- NSCA-CPT Certified
- Recertified with Distinction – NSCA-CPT,*D
- Hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a health-related field from a regionally accredited College or University. (i.e. Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant, Health Care Administration, Physical Education, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Kinesiotherapy, Athletic Training, Physiology, Sports Management, Biology, Exercise Physiology, Human Performance, Health Science, Recreation Management/Science, and Nutrition.)
- Hold current employment as a personal trainer working with individuals for the past four years (Average 20 hours a week).
- An outline of employment and a letter of recommendation must be submitted by a manager or director from the facilities the individual has been employed at for the last 4 years. Individuals who own their own facility or are self-employed must show proof of ownership.
- A letter of recommendation from two colleagues holding current NSCA-CPT Certification
- Pay the administrative fee.
Scoring System
Individuals must also score a total of 50 points within a 3-year CEU reporting period to be eligible for this recognition. Click here to view the PT-AR Point Evaluation Form.
Application Details
Only CEU's attained between January 1st 2006 and Dec 31st 2008 are eligible to be used toward this recognition. Activities completed prior to 2006 are not approved for this recognition.
Application deadlines are June 1st 2008 and December 31st 2008.
After December 31, 2008 the next application deadline will be December 31, 2011. Only CEU’s from January 1st 2009 through December 31st 2011 reporting period will be accepted for this recording period.
Cost
A one time $100.00 administrative fee for the three-year period is due with the completed application.
