The National Strength and Conditioning Association does not develop or prescribe workouts to individuals. The NSCA leaves this task up to our members who are NSCA Certified Personal Trainers® (NSCA-CPT®), or Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists® (CSCS®). The Essentials of Strength and Conditioning textbook contains a section on organization and administration of a strength training and conditioning facility. The NSCA's Professional Standards and Guidelines may also be of assistance, they are available online at http://www.nsca-lift.org/publications/standards.shtml.

Membership (Student)

Why do you require supporting information to get student membership?

Students are given discounts on membership and conferences. In order to justify giving students these discounts, the NSCA has developed a policy regarding who qualifies and how they must prove their student status.

What if I already sent my student supporting information to the NSCA Certification?

The NSCA Certification will ask for student supporting information as well from students taking the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist® exam. The Membership Department has separate records and requires its own copy of the student verification. Membership will accept the following forms of verification:

Why was my membership pro-rated?

Students are given 30 days after they join to submit their supporting information. When this is not received, the National Headquarters staff will try and contact them via letter and email. If there is no response, then the membership is changed to reflect that the verification was not received.

Do I have to submit student supporting information every year?

Yes, we require students submit their information every time they renew.

What if I graduated or am getting ready to graduate?

As long as you are a full-time student at the time that you join/renew, you can get the discount for the following year.

What is considered full-time?

Full-time attendance is usually 12 credit hours undergraduate and 6-9 credit hours graduate level. If your college varies, please submit a letter from your Dean or Advisor stating that you are considered full-time at that institution.

Can International members get a student discount?

The student discount is only available to members in the U.S. and Canada.
