Dr. Jay Hoffman is the Chair of the Department of Health and Exercise Science at The College of New Jersey’s. He holds the rank of full professor. Dr. Hoffman is also a fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Dr. Hoffman was recently elected as President of the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Dr. Hoffman holds a unique perspective in his sport science background. Prior to his academic career he signed free agent contracts with the NY Jets and Philadelphia Eagles of the NFL and the Tampa Bay Bandits of the USFL. Recent honors and awards bestowed upon Dr. Hoffman include: 2007 Outstanding Sport Scientist of the Year from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), 2005 Outstanding Kinesiology Professional Award from the Neag School of Education Alumni Society of the University of Connecticut, 2003 Educator of the Year NSCA, and 2003 Neag School of Education Outstanding Alumni Research Award (University of Connecticut). Dr. Hoffman is also the sports science advisor to Major League Baseball Strength Coaches and is assisting them in developing a steroid education program for baseball. Dr. Hoffman’s primary area of study is in sports supplementation and training paradigms. Dr. Hoffman has published more than 130 articles and chapters in peer-reviewed journals. His books Physiological Aspects of Sport Training and Performance and Norms for Fitness, Performance, and Health were published by Human Kinetics. A Practical Guide to Designing Resistance Training Programs and Total Fitness for Baseball were published by Coaches Choice. Further sharing his research and findings, Dr. Hoffman has lectured at more than 215 national and international conferences and meetings.

Dr. G. Gregory Haff is currently an Assistant Professor at West Virginia University School of Medicine in their Department of Human Performance and Applied Exercise Physiology. He received his MS in Exercise Science from Appalachian State University and his PhD in Education with a Concentration in Exercise Physiology from University of Kansas. Dr. Haff served on the NSCA Research Committee from 2000 – 2006, and is a current NSCA Fellow.

Dr Jeff Stout is currently an Associate Professor and Director of the Metabolic and Body Composition Laboratories in the Department of Health and Exercise Science at the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Stout has published over 100 peer reviewed research studies that focus on sports nutrition, exercise performance, muscle function and body composition. Furthermore, he has co-authored and co-edited 7 books and 5 chapters on sports nutrition.

Jill A. Bush holds an Associate Professor position at Towson University in Towson, Maryland, an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine, and Adjunct Associate Professor position at the University of Houston. She received her doctoral degree from Penn State University. Her current research examines nutrient and hormonal effects on exercise testing and performance in youth and adults.

Coach Mike Nitka has been a member of the NSCA since 1985. His NSCA volunteer service includes traveling to Beijing, China as a NSCA delegate, the Conference Committee, the Scholarship Committee, Chairman of the High School SIG, and Column Editor of the NSCA Journal’s High School Column; he has been a member of three Strategic Planning Committees as well. As an instructor of Physical Education at Muskego High School in Muskego, WI for the past 33 years, he has earned his Masters degree from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse and has earned the NSCA Fellow distinction.

Mr. Juan Carlos Santana is the Director of the Institute of Human Performance in Boca Raton, Florida. His vast experiences in volunteer positions for the NSCA (e.g. Florida State Director, Conference Committee member, Sport-Specific Conference chair, NSCASCJ Sport-Specific Column Editor, 2-term Board of Directors Member, and NSCA Vice-President) have provided him with an insight into the NSCA that few can claim. Mr. Santana is one of the most dynamic and respected presenters in the industry and has authored over 150 articles, 60 DVDs and 14 books.

Dr. John McCarthy is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he conducts research on neuromuscular, metabolic, and performance adaptations to resistance exercise and teaches exercise physiology and clinical exercise courses. He is a long time member of the NSCA with an extensive volunteer service record (e.g., Wisconsin State Director, member of Education and Conference Committees). He also serves on editorial boards for the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research and the Journal of Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy.

Chat Williams, MS, CSCS, *D, NSCA-CPT, *D, PT-AR, is the Wellness Coordinator for Norman Regional Health Club. He currently sits on the National Strength and Conditioning Association Board of Directors and is the past NSCA State Director Committee Chair, Midwest Regional Coordinator and State Director of Oklahoma (2004 State Director of the Year). He also served on the NSCA Personal Trainer SIG Executive Council. He is the author of multiple training DVD's including Training and Program Design with the BOSU Balance Trainer, Weekend Warrior: Training the Recreational Athlete, and co-author of 3-D Legs. His company Oklahoma Strength and Conditioning Productions offers personal training services, sports performance for youth, metabolic testing, and educational conferences and seminars for strength and conditioning professionals.
