Michael Embree is a seasoned veteran who has worked with member-based, nonprofit associations for more than 40 years. Michael earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s from Indiana University and he holds the Certificate of Organizational Development from National Training Laboratories. He has served organizations across the U.S. in the capacities of Executive Manager as well as Executive Director. As a Senior Director with the National Education Association he coordinated projects and services to 600,000 members. As a strategic planner and thinker, Michael is dedicated to and focused on increasing value to members in the development and implementation of association projects and services.

After receiving an accounting degree from Western Michigan University, Lee Madden spent several years in public accounting and management at McDonald’s Corporation in the Chicago area. Upon moving to Colorado Springs in 1995, she joined the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation and began an accounting service for sports nonprofits in the Colorado Springs area including many national governing bodies as clients.

Boyd is the most decorated strength coach in history. Lindy’s National College Football magazine named him one of College Football’s Top 100 Most Important People of the Century after his training program helped produce five national championships and 356 wins in 35 years of Nebraska football. He is the founder of the NSCA and continues to be an advocate for strength coaches.

Kim Ginter brings more than 30 years of experience in the development and implementation of strategic plans and policies. Her NSCA career began more than 15 years ago, working in several leadership roles, establishing NSCA Headquarters and headed strategic relationships with several national governing bodies. Before joining the NSCA in 1996, Mrs. Ginter was Membership and Museum Director for the American Numismatic Association focusing on the management and expansion of its nonprofit services and strategic partnerships. She has been a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) for more than 20 years and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) for more than 14 years.

Torrey Smith received his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science
from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and his Master’s degree in Exercise
Science from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Torrey began his career at the
NSCA in 2002 as the Continuing Education Coordinator. After serving in this
role for three years, he was promoted to Exam Development Coordinator and then
later to Exam Development Manager. Having experience in all aspects of the
Certification Department, Torrey was named the Certification Director in 2011.
Torrey is also a Certified Health Fitness Specialist (HFS) through the American
College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and is a Certified Sport Performance Coach
through USA Weightlifting (USAW).

Curtis Lords joined the NSCA in 2006 and is the Membership Director. Prior to joining the NSCA, Curtis retired from the United States Navy after serving as a Naval Aerospace Physiologist and Diving Medical Officer. He trained Naval Aviators in physiological responses to flight, water and land survival, and performance improvement. Lords also conducted strength research at the Naval Aerospace Medical Research Laboratory. His areas of research concentrated on performance improvement for aviators, rescue swimmers and Navy divers. Lords is a technical rock climber, alpinist, and certified climbing director.

Dr. Sharp earned his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Management and Prescription, Master’s in Exercise Science, and Doctorate in Clinical Nutrition. Carwyn has worked in academia as an Assistant Professor and full-time Lecturer. Dr. Sharp worked for Wyle Laboratories conducting exercise science experiments at NASA Johnson Space Center. He also has 14 years coaching experience including the Head Performance Coach at Elite Training 4 Athletes. He has spoken at many meetings/events, and been interviewed for national publications. Dr. Sharp has authored and co-authored numerous articles, manuscripts and abstracts, has been a CSCS-certified member of the NSCA since 2003, and achieved RSCC distinction.

After 20 years managing a broad range of technology platforms in the United States Air Force and running a technology consultancy for 10 years, Ashley and his team are leading the effort in rebuilding the NSCA technology infrastructure. David is a member of the Project Management Institute. He is a decorated military veteran and currently volunteers his time and talents at two local veteran organizations, helping homeless veterans and contributing to the preservation of veteran rights.

Scott Douglas is responsible for delivering the strategy and the implementation of NSCA’s marketing communication efforts as well as to provide leadership for the organization’s national and international growth initiatives. For more than 15 years, Scott’s career has focused on integrated marketing across a wide spectrum of industries. As Marketing Director with Motum, Scott developed competitive analyses and brand positioning strategies for industry-leading companies including SAP, AlixPartners and OKI Data. Scott also co-founded an advertising agency, delivering creative media solutions to universities, financial institutions and nonprofits. Scott holds an MBA from the University of Colorado and continues the learning process as an adjunct college instructor in management and marketing.

Virginia is responsible for the overall logistics of NSCA’s conferences, symposia and regional events. This includes overseeing all educational seminars and annual programs. Virginia and staff design and deliver more than a dozen conferences and symposia for NSCA members, certified professionals, and supporters each year. Virginia brought more than 20 years of conference, event and hospitality experience to the NSCA. In addition to participating as a guest panelist for several specialty conferences, webcasts and training events, Virginia’s experience includes working for the American Numismatic Association and the Broadmoor resort. Virginia is actively involved in Meeting Professionals International and American Society of Association Executives.

Keith E. Cinea, has served the NSCA in various communications and educational positions since 1999. Before coming to the NSCA, he was the Strength Training Coordinator for the Central Denver YMCA, and worked as an Adjunct Faculty Member at Front Range Community College in Westminster, Colorado. Keith earned his BA and MA in exercise physiology from the University of Northern Colorado and holds a first degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
